Our wine domaine is located in Vergisson, a picturesque hilltop village in the heart of the historic sites of Solutré and Vergisson, in the far south of the Burgundy wine region. The vineyards cover 7.5 hectares in the AOCs of Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru and Saint-Véran.
Domaine Morat is certified for organic viticulture. Our artisanal approach to winegrowing is grounded in natural, environmentally friendly methods. We plough all the soil, prioritise manual labour, and harvest our grapes by hand.
The meticulous work in the vineyard and the cellar results in wines of character - rich, pure and true to the terroir of Vergisson. This terroir is remarkably diverse, forming a patchwork of soils, exposures and altitudes.
The Domaine produces two Saint-Véran, four Pouilly-Fuissé, and two Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru wines.
Our Story
Gilles is deeply attached to the village where he was born and where his father was a winegrower before him. In 1997, he decided to take over part of the family wine domaine, expanding it through the acquisition and leasing of additional vineyard plots. The Domaine continued to grow, and in 2004 Joëlle became involved full-time.
Their son, Pierre, joined them in 2020 after completing his oenology degree in Dijon and gaining valuable work experience in wine regions around the world.
